These cars will be serviced and become a new train with new placards. Kudo's for the dude..You gotta have a good hand for this kind of work! [Hua Lamphong]

Title:  SRTPlcd
Description:  A typical train Placard -'just happened to be of Ms. Sarnt. hometown, too!...dont know the sighificance of the colors. These placards are painted or printed wood composite and there are long racks of them at the platforms, most being red with white lettering. [I dont condone it, but, they would make snappy SRT souveniers, right??!!]

Description:  At Hua Lamphong Station these 'Lantern' switches control crossovers at the platforms. 2 faces have the rectangles and 2 opposing faces will have an 'up arrow' on one and a circle on the other, as seen on this pair. I will assume they are lighted only at night. These are very retro-lly cool!

Title:  SRTSw288PHY
Description:  SRT manual switchstand #288, Paholyothin Yard. [Definitely a mouthful!] This switch guards a lead into the Yard's enginehouse. Most of the switchstands I saw here had that disk counterweight in the throw, but not many retained the pipelike mast this one has. the red block is a hi vis marker, i think.

MstSigCRK
Title:  MstSigCRK
Description:  Mast signals [inbound] at Chiang Rak Station. Chiang Rak happens to be an 'overbuilt' station; there is much more platform and side track here than the volume of use indicates. In the 1990's this station was expanded for the "Pan-Asian {olympic} Games" and has seem much less use since then. Lantern switches can be seen among the weeds and to the right, stacks of concrete ties for the upcoming line extension project.

Title:  SigCRKs2Dtl
Description:  'Symmetrical' view of the inbound main signal bridge from Chiang Rak's Pedestrian bridge. 'Not exactly sure of the function of these 'rabbit ear' extensions, however i think they indicate a diverging track [immediately] ahead; either '1 ear' for a siding or crossover in the direction of the 'ear' or, a double crossover in the case of a 'full ear' set. Thus, I've never seen one lit but it is safe to assume that when a train is lined into one of these said ear will light up!

SRT Signal bridge CrkN
Title:  SRT Signal bridge CrkN
Description:  Outbound mainline signal bridge and signals at Chiang Rak Noi. There is a well used pedestrian crossing here, sighns on both sides of the crossing warn to be aware of train movements. While we were here one foolhardy motorbiker decided to ride his steed along the shoulder ballast on the far track towards the station, upon which the station attendant came out and promptly scolded him!!

SRT Signal bridge detail Lat Krabang
Title:  SRT Signal bridge detail Lat Krabang
Description:  Having just missed the last scheduled train before sunset, we wandered around the platform at Lat Krabang station. With that golden light to our back, it was a great opportunity to catch this signal bridge protecting the outbound Eastern mainline. The inbound signals [at back] look to be of the position light type!

SRT Signal detail Lat Krabang
Title:  SRT Signal detail Lat Krabang
Description:  The setting sun wonderfully details this '1/2 rabbit ear' signal at Lat Krabang, on the previously photo'ed signal bridge. The round signal head to the right facing opposite is likely a position light type. The 'rabbit ear[s]' extension above the signal very likely indicates a diverging track[s]/switch[es] just ahead in the direction of the 'ear'[s]; and will light up when a train is lined into that track.

Description:  The next morning we visited 'Thammasat University' Station -another Pan Asian games project which is now just a flag stop. There is nothing but a platform and this bridge here. It makes for some great photo views but, one has to be careful ascending the stairs..Since the 'station' is disused a lot of the stainless steel handrails have 'disappeared under mysterious circumstance'...

Title:  50th Year
Description:  A surprising place to find 50 year old US made rail still in mainline use! I'll guess it's 85 lb..looks a bit dwarfed by the track clips holding it in place. Today they will bear the weight of SRT 824 when she passes over with her special 'King's Birthday' train.

Rural Crossing, Kachanaburi province
Title:  Rural Crossing, Kachanaburi province
Description:  At first glance very familiar but upon closer inspection..this is a rural crossing of the Thai-Burma line [aka 'Death Railway'] near to Tham Kra Sae and Sai Yok Town in Kachanaburi province. I love that big 'sXw' in place of the usual [to us] 'RxR' painted on the outbound road lane [Siam observes left hand driving]. The Thai word for Railroad is 'Rod-Fai' and the 'S-W' is the alphabet for that!
