Album Info: Railroad Signals have a fascination all thier own and are classic and timeless subjects for our lenses, especially when rendered in black and white. This is an album for many of those signals I've come across on my ventures. [For a look at some cool foreign system's signalling, pls. check my State Railway of Thailand [SRT] and Japan Railways [JR]; Track, MoW, and Signal Albums here.]

Sig14176S1
Title:  Sig14176S1
Description:  Signal 14176 [Southbound] guards a particularly scenic part of the Crawford Hill Main Line. In this afternoon shot all is [temporarily] quiet. There is a small hill immediately behind this signal which allows for some good down on photos as seen here. It can be accessed off 'Saw Logging Road' [NOT the nearby 'Saw LOG Road'!]. There is a small place to park roadside at the signal, however MoW vehicles may need to access the spot to cross in or out to the tracks at any time.

Title:  Sig5080KbgS3

Sig5080KbgS5
Title:  Sig5080KbgS5
Description:  The second night of the August supermoon saw the moonrise later and much darker. With what little natural light remained i was able to enhance this photo to get the barest detail of 5080's mast. Traffic was up a bit too, allowing for a catch with an active signal!

Sig5080KbgS6
Title:  Sig5080KbgS6
Description:  I had to shoot this series of lit signals quickly; the lunar being for an eastbound which will be coming up behind me within a very short time..meanwhile the 'natural lunar' silhouettes part of the signal mass and the top of a cloud it has just broke through.

Sig5080KbgS7
Title:  Sig5080KbgS7
Description:  My fave of this series...detail shot of the moon and it's companion, man-made, 'lunar'...by this time it was annoyingly apperent that I was under attack of the 'mosquito kind'..making proper positioning and steadying of my tripod that much more a challenge, as well as trying not to find myself caught in the headlight of an immenent train, either!!!

Sig5080KbgS8
Title:  Sig5080KbgS8
Description:  Wider view with both red and lunar aspects lit, BNSF signal 5080. With a train closing fast and unseen mosquitos all around I called it quits and quickly folded up shop. Being that the area here was very dark after dark { :-P } I made sure to park well away from the tracks and wore a safety vest while staying off the crossing and track as much as possible, then giving a wide berth for the coming train to pass. Always better to safely represent and promote our hobby than be sorry, I'd say!!!
